THERE were no more Covid deaths recorded in Ryedale over the latest weekly period – but the number of people in hospital increased.

The latest figures from the UK Covid dashboard show a total of 151 people had died in the area by February 2 – which was unchanged from on the week before.

A total of 182,131 deaths were recorded throughout England by February 2.

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 78 patients with Covid in hospital as of Tuesday, February 14, figures show.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid by 8am on February 15 was up from 68 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid decreased by 33 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 116.

Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has increased by 14 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 6 per cent.

The figures also show that 42 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to February 13. This was up from 29 in the previous seven days.
