BRACES from Ryan Blott and Billy Logan ensured that Clipstone Town are still waiting for their first win of the season in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League premier division.

Blott scored for fifth-placed hosts Pickering Town in the sixth and 80th minutes, the latter from a Ryan Cooper cross, with Logan netting in the 61st and 68th minutes, both from Joe Danby assists. Tom Claisse was man of the match for the Pikes in their 4-0 success.

Fraser Lancaster equalised for 20th-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic at home to 16th-placed Hall Road Rangers, but the hosts fell 2-1 to a 90th-minute goal by Conner Harman.

In division one, Selby Town took the lead at Glasshoughton Welfare via Joe Dale in the seventh minute, but the fifth-placed club conceded either side of half-time to also lose 2-1.

There were no such worries for leaders Knaresborough Town, who won 4-1 at East Yorkshire Carnegie. Rob Youhill (2), Ben Cohen and Stephen Bromley were on target for Town.

In Vanarama National League North, second-placed Harrogate Town made it five straight wins at The CNG Stadium and are now only five points behind leaders Salford City after a 2-1 win over second-from-bottom AFC Telford United.

Joe Leesley opened the scoring with his 18th goal of the season, curling a sublime effort into the top corner after 33 minutes.

The hosts added a second six minutes after the break through Simon Ainge’s header from a Jack Emmett cross and, although Jordan Murphy pulled one back in the 90th minute, Town were able to see the game out.

Prolific duo James Walshaw and Michael Coulson (2) gave leaders Scarborough Athletic a 3-0 victory at home to Prescot Cables in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Meanwhile, Scarborough’s rise from the ashes will be shown on Eurosport’s FIFA Football half-hour show on Wednesday (4am, 8.30am, 6.30pm).
