A FAILURE to turn pressure into points consigned Malton & Norton RUFC Under-17s to a 10-0 defeat against Dinnington.
Dinnington’s heavier pack had the measure of their hosts in the early exchanges of the friendly fixture, and they broke through Malton’s staunch defence for an unconverted try.
Malt pinned Dinnington back on their line after the restart and Joel Walton and Charlie Darmody both crossed the line, but were unable to make the touchdown. The South Yorkshire men then added another try before the interval and, although most of the second half was played in the visitors’ territory, Malt were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Malton & Norton U16s lost 46-7 at Pocklington.
Malton’s tackling kept the scoreline to a respectable 15-0 at half-time, with Guy Welch and Joe Tenge putting in some crunching tackles.
After the break, Malton quickly fell 39-0 behind before Josh Peirson stopped the rot by picking his spot to crash over for a try converted by Paul Angus.
