BROOKLYN Under-11s Lions were edged out 3-2 by Easingwold Lions in their top-of-the-table clash in the York & Ryedale Mitchell Sports League.

Brooklyn went ahead after 15 minutes through Ethan Oakes' fantastic goal, but the visitors hit back to lead 3-1 at the break.

The hosts came out more determined, and Jay Jackson hit the back of the net to but, despite many efforts on the goal, an equaliser could not be found.

Andy Cook was named Brooklyn's man of the match for his safe handling in goal.

Heslerton U11s fought hard in a 2-0 defeat away to a strong Cayton Corinthians U11s outfit in the Scarborough Minor league.

After the home side struck the woodwork early on, Heslerton created the better chances with Tom Allan providing the link-up play for Alex Troop and Ethan Smith to break forward.

Cayton, though, took the lead after the break from a corner. Heslerton fought back with man-of-the-match David Hebron surging through the defence a number of times but, as they pushed extra players forward, Cayton sealed victory with a late goal on the break.

Heslerton U10s lost at Seamer despite excellent defending from Jak Dixon, goals from midfielder Hayden Williamson and Charlie Richardson, and a battling man-of-the-match show from striker Joe Pearce.

Heslerton U8s went goal crazy at Flamborough with strikes from Max Taylor-Barber, Rio Howden, Jake Allardice, Myles Johnson, man-of-the-match Charlie Swiers (2) and Matthew Moss.

In the second game, debutant Beck Hutchinson, the player of the match on debut, scored twice with Howden again netting.
