Brooklyn Under-15s beat Copmanthorpe on penalties at the end of a fine York FA Intermediate (Senior) Minor Cup round two tie.

Brooklyn, with a strong wind behind them, went ahead when Luke Scott’s powerful shot was parried, with striker Tom Walsh the quickest to react. Then good play down the left and a cross from Scott saw Luke Balderson hold off a defender and fire crisply into the bottom left corner.

Copmanthorpe’s second-half pressure was rewarded with two goals, the second coming five minutes from time.

But in between times they were denied by James Allan’s header off the goal-line, which proved vital, as Brooklyn went through after winning 5-4 on penalties.

Kirkbymoorside U15s progressed in more comprehensive fashion, winning 7-3 at Brayton.

Harvey D'Alquin led the way with a hat-trick, while Lucas Davison (2), Alex Lilley and Lewis Eustace also netted.

Kirkbymoorside U16s had less joy in their York FA cup, losing 4-2 at Rawcliffe Tigers.

Dan Wallis and Brad Thompson, with a penalty, were on the mark for the Moorsiders.

Dan Ward scored twice for Kirkbymoorside U14s but his side were ousted from the York FA cup in a 3-2 defeat by York RI.

Heslerton U14s lost 6-1 to a strong Hunmanby side in the Scarborough Minor League Cup.

Heslerton were strong in the first half with Josh and Leah Dobson shining, and they battled throughout, with Conor Miles man of the match in defence.

A sound second-half performance saw Old Malton U13s Blues beat Easingwold 5-0 to reach the third round of York FA U13s Cup.

Easingwold, with the wind behind them, could have taken an early lead but for goalie Zak Thompson's one-on-one save. Instead, Lewis Pople headed in a great corner for a 1-0 interval lead.

Malton, for whom Von Sumsard battled well in midfield alongside Aziz Kirr, took control with the wind behind them and Pople completed a hat-trick before Patryk Jadczuk got a deserved brace, his second coming from a nicely timed chip from Will Scholefield.

Brooklyn Lions U11s were knocked out of the York FA Minor Cup but not without a fight.

They trailed 3-0 at Rawcliffe Warriors but responded well by dominating the second half and scoring through Lucas Croft and Dylan Dykes. They pressed for an equaliser and on another day could have taken the game to penalties but the hosts clinched the tie with a fourth goal.

Will Hartley and man-of-the-match Jay Jackson stood out for the Lions.

Kirkbymoorside U11s exited the Scarborough FA U11s Cup in painful circumstances, going out 4-3 on penalties after drawing 3-3 with Phoenix.

Dylan Edwards and Robert Farnell (2) got the Moorsiders goals prior to the shoot-out.

Heslerton U11s suffered their first loss of the season after being out-battled by Cayton.

A fine save from Heslerton’s Brad Spiller went unrewarded as the ball ricocheted and span back into the net, and Cayton doubled their lead after the break.

This woke the home side and Tom Owen went close before man-of-the-match Sam Owen volleyed in from a Josh Dolan header.

The impressive Alex Troop tested the Cayton keeper twice, but the away side held firm.

Dylan Fawcett was man of the match for his superb tackling in defence and fine work as stand-in goalkeeper as Heslerton U10s hosted Phoenix in an end-to-end battle. Joe Pearce scored twice for Hezzo, his second a strike from distance.

Oliver Barnett starred for Heslerton U9s but could not prevent defeat to Seamer.

Heslerton U8s edged Flamborough Vikings through goals by Max Taylor-Barber and man-of-the-match Charlie Swiers, both goals coming in the second half with a wind advantage.

Heslerton excelled in the second game and there were goals from Jake Allardice (3), Swiers and man-of-the-match Myles Johnson (2), including one from a long mazy run.
