A MALTON Army cadet has been named Player of the Tournament at the National Rugby Championships.
Keaton Watson, 15, who has been with the Army cadets for two years, was selected to represent the North East region in the intermediate rugby competition at Sennybridge. After a tough final against Wales, NE Region came out on top, with Keaton scoring three tries in the final match. His performance led to his award and the presentation of an Army rugby shirt.
Keaton said he hoped to represent the region again next year, perhaps also in other sports.
“I am proud to have represented my region at a national level and become recognised through cadets, it gave me a good insight into cadet sports,” he said.
