PICKERING Town Under-11s have one hand on the York & Ryedale Mitchell Sports League division two championship with three games to go after hitting nine goals past Bishopthorpe.

The Pikes had only edged the reverse fixture 3-2 but this time a hattrick by Sam Booth, plus goals by Isaac Finch, Billy Fewster, from the spot after a foul on Booth, Morgan Kendrew (2), the first from the move of the match, Toby Dale and Charlie Hancock gave them a comprehensive victory.

Old Malton St Mary’s U11s finished their division three season on a high, coming from behind to beat Wigginton Grasshoppers 3-1.

The marksmen were Bradley Machent and, after Malton had two shots cleared off the line, Arthur Rees, who bagged two, the second a penalty after Machent was brought down.

A goal with 10 minutes to go saw Brooklyn U11s Girls fall to unbeaten York RI in the York Girls’ League Cup quarter-finals.

Brooklyn surged forward looking for a leveller but to no avail. It was still a fantastic effort and the tie was a credit to girls’ football.

Brooklyn’s player of the match was their impressive goalkeeper, Jevan Crick.

Josh Mann was on the mark for Heslerton U11s but they lost 6-1 at Seamer in the Scarborough Minor League.
