MORE than 100 children from reception to Year 3 joined together at Malton Community Sports Centre for their annual multi-skills sports festival.
Youngsters from St Mary’s, Terrington, Foston, Slingsby and Welburn worked in teams to compete in six activity stations aimed at improving their agility, balance and co-ordination.
The event was organised by the school sports co-ordinator from Malton Secondary and led by sports leaders undertaking their community sports leaders award.
The winners of the Harding Shield were Foston scoring an impressive 207 points. The fair play award went to Evie Stead (Welburn).
The next event in the Sports Partnership calendar is the Sportshall Athletics at Malton Community Sports Centre on Wednesday, December 5.
Ryedale School hosted the Year 10 Scarborough and District area netball tournament which was won by George Pindar Collage.
Ryedale ‘A’ beat Malton 3-0, Graham 4-0, Lady Lumley's Pickering 5-2 and Whitby College ‘B’ 9-0 before losing to Whitby College ‘B’ in the semi-finals.
Eliza Dwyer and Emily Lockett were outstanding for Ryedale ‘A’, while Katie Richmond and Alice Glover played well for Ryedale ‘B’, who lost all their group games.
Ryan Hamblett and Alice Hall starred as Ryedale’s ‘A’ and ‘B’ qualified for the Year 9 mixed hockey county finals. The ‘A’ team were runners-up.
The school’s Year 8 team reached the semi-finals of the Scarborough and District hockey tournament before being beaten by Scarborough College. Ryedale beat Fyling Hall 3-0 and Norton College 6-0 but lost to Eskdale School 1-0.
