York & District Under-12s lose 4-2 at Doncaster

Kiam Browne and James Rennocks were on target as York fell to only their second regional schoolboys league loss of the season.

York started brightly but were punished for not making their superiority count when Doncaster picked up a loose ball in midfield and went in front from a header off the chipped left-wing cross.

Five minutes on, York fell further behind to a penalty that was given away following a mix-up at the back.

After the restart, York took the game to Doncaster and created a couple of half-chances, but nothing substantial until Browne was brought down in the box. His spot kick was saved but he slotted home the rebound.

York started to fancy their chances of an equaliser, and Rennocks found it, forcing his way through from the right wing, cutting in and hitting a sweet shot that arrowed into the far bottom corner.

But Doncaster were able to exploit the space in behind the York defence and headed in to re-take the lead and the momentum, finishing the job with 10 minutes remaining.

York blazed a penalty over late on.

York U11s came back from a goal down to win 3-2 at Leeds 'A' and get a top-four spot under control.

Leeds were up for it from the off and narrowly missed taking an early lead before scoring the opener from an incisive through ball.

York started the second third positively, with Louie Regan, Harry Glaves and Brogan Dunne all solid at the back and Ben Farrar energetic up front.

His efforts paid off and he got York back into it with a calm finish before Cam McMillan showed similar composure to dispatch a ball into the box beyond the sliding Leeds defenders.

Oz Shaw put York further ahead in the final period, carrying the ball up to the edge of the area before rifling over the keeper.

The hosts set up a tense finish by scoring a penalty with 10 minutes to go but York, who were outstanding across the board, held out.
