HORSESHOE ‘B’ stayed top of Pickering League division one after a 5-2 win at Black Swan.

Shoe led 3-2 after the individual games, with Billy Hague maintaining his good form with two 19-darters including 4x100 and 140, and they won the team games with Mike Brown taking out 84 on the bull.

Rec Club ‘A’ pipped WMC ‘B’ 4-3.

Matt Gardner (20, 21) got them off to a winning start before Matty Turnbull replied with an 18-darter.

Roger Dawson was also in good form with 2x140, 125, 100 in legs of 20 and 22 darts, and Steve Taylor chipped in for Rec with 2x140 in an 18-darter.

Royal Oak got their first win of term, 5-2 at New Inn, to leave their hosts at the bottom.

New Inn led 2-1 with the help of the returning Rob Aconley, who showed no signs of rustiness with an 18-darter.

But Oak captain Martin Cook (6x100) and Steve Dawson (3x100, 140, 180) with legs of 23 and 17 darts sent Oak on their way.

Sun Inn put in an improved display in division two and led 3-2 at Horseshoe ‘A’, but the hosts hit back in the team games to win 4-3.

Rec Club ‘B’ held on for a 4-3 win at bay Horse, Stu Fenwick providing fireworks for Rec with 2x140, 180 and a 68 finish.

Keith Dickson and Mick Barnes hit 180s for Moors League leaders Moors Inn but were beaten by Tim Nichols and Mark Eddon, respectively, of White Swan.

Steve Cass, Keith Eddon and Neil Eddon (140) added to Swan’s tally on their way to a 7-3 victory. Andy Tock and Nigel Aconley recorded individual wins for Moors while Paddy Mead chipped in with 140.

Second-placed Blacksmiths Hartoft had to win the last leg, the three-aside, to earn a 5-5 draw against plucky Buck Inn ‘B’, who had been put in the driving seat after the singles by Mike Peirson, David Wilson, Geoff Simpson and Dave Cockerill.

Sun Inn had a great 8-2 win at Blacksmiths Arms ‘B’, Lastingham, with James Dowkes starring as he hit a couple of tons and a 71 finish.

Paul Miers scored 3x100 for Blacksmiths but lost to Sun’s Richard Dixon (120).

Andy Biggins, Matt Durrant and Dave Collinson helped Blacksmiths ‘A’, Lastingham, to a 3-1 lead at New Inn with tidy finishes of 98, 57 and 50.

Nie Monkman had replied with a 28-dart leg containing 140, 137 and 2x100 before team-mate Mick Hodgson made it 3-2.

Richard Sellars (140) made it 4-2 to the visitors but Sarah Hodgson hit back with 137 and 2x100 in 31 darts for New Inn who then took all three team games to edge home 6-4.

Jimmy Porter and Bri Cook hit 140s for Coach House as they led 4-3 after the singles at Buck Inn ‘A’.

Chas Atkinson, Pop Ellerby and Jane Rule notched wins for Buck but they needed a pairs and the three-a-side to force a 5-5 draw.

• GEOFF ATKINSON shocked unbeaten Pickering Recreation Club Individual League ‘A’ league leader Billy Hague with a 4-1 win.

Atkinson threw legs of 23, 22, 21 and 20 darts. Hague, who replied with a 22-darter, had earlier beaten Andy Wall 4-1, including a 17-dart leg and an 86 finish, Wall having an 89 outshot.

Adam Robinson had two good wins over Jonathan Rule, 3-2 with legs of 22, 21, 18 and 17 and an 80 outshot. Rule had a 76 outshot.

Robinson then beat Atkinson 3-2.

Steve Taylor had a brilliant 12- dart leg in his 4-1 win over Rule, as well as an 86 outshot. He then beat Roger Dawson 5-0 with legs of 21, 17, 16 and 16 darts and a 115 outshot.

Dawson beat John Bristow 5-0 though the game could have gone either way. Bristow also lost 3-2 to Phil Bointon, who also beat Steve Dawson 3-2, with legs of 21 and 18 darts. Dawson, who had 22 and 20-darts, also lost 4-1 to Andy Wall, who included a 117 outshort and a great 14-dart leg.

Arthur Gibson had three good wins in the ‘B’ league to stay unbeaten. He beat the previously undefeated Matty Gardner 3-2, despite Gardner’s 180 and legs of 21 and 19 darts. He then beat Cameron Spiller 4-1 and Matt Turnbull 3-2.

Phil Taylor beat his son, Peter, 5- 0, the latter having his chances.

Taylor snr also beat Turnbull 3-2.

Ady Boyes lost 4-1 to Johnny Smith and Cameron Spiller, who had two 22-darters, but beat Peter Taylor by the same score.
