OLD Malton St Mary’s had the Preston brothers to thanks for maintaining their unbeaten record in the York Minster Engineering League premier division.

St Mary’s twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at second-placed Huntington, despite having Neil Wilford sent off for dissent midway through the second half.

The Ryedale side had recorded wins on their last five visits to Huntington, but they needed Scott Preston to cancel out a Gary Newton goal before half-time and, after James Edmund had restored the hosts’ lead, younger sibling Liam Preston headed home an equaliser two minutes from time to grab a point. It was Rovers’ first home draw in 14 matches.

Both goals conceded were poor defensively on Malton’s part, but a major positive for the Ryedale side was the return of captain Richard Dunning after a month out with a calf injury.

St Mary’s record will again be severely tested on Saturday as they host table-toppers Dunnington.

Amotherby & Swinton could not prevent Bishopthorpe maintaining their unbeaten start in division one as Johan Beecher scored the only goal of the game, for Bishops, 10 minutes from time.

Malton & Norton collected their first points of the season with a 2-1 win at Hemingbrough. Chris Hodgson’s goal for the hosts was cancelled out by Dave Young and Paul Boyes.

Terrington Glory shocked Pocklington with a 6-1 thrashing – Pock’s first defeat in eight games.

Alex Yeats got a hat-trick, Ben Richardson scored twice and Dave Bradshaw also netted for Glory.

Stamford Bridge made it three wins in three games in division two as they beat Osbaldwick 4-1.

Myron Turbine, Nathan Spreckley and Harry Bryant (2) were the scorers. Mike Whitely got a late consolation for Osbaldwick.

Old Malton reserves beat visitors Huntington reserves 3-2 in reserve ‘A’ thanks to two goals from Dean Leddell and one from Callum Holmes.

Amotherby & Swinton reserves notched their second win in reserve ‘B’ as first-half goals from Richard Cass and Matty Bean, plus an own goal, secured a 3-0 win at Wilberfoss.

Malton & Norton led at home to Bishopthorpe thanks to a Simon Reeves goal, but they lost 3-1.
