A MARATHON runner is lacing up ahead of her 100th race in a decade-long challenge that will support an important local charity.

Sarah Wilson will complete her milestone marathon at the Yorkshire Marathon on October 18, after 11 years of running with the goal of completing 100 marathons before her 50th birthday.

Her 99th marathon was completed at Loch Ness on September 27 and the final race will bring her back to home turf as she runs through York.

Sarah said: "Over the past 11 years I’ve slowly been working towards completing 100 marathons before my 50th birthday, so reaching this milestone feels incredibly special."

To mark the occasion, she is raising funds for YTT - a charity that supports Gypsy and Traveller communities in York and the surrounding areas.

Currently serving as the interim CEO, she has been involved with the charity for four years in various roles, including teaching young people and supporting women with digital skills.

Funds raised from her marathon challenge will go toward keeping the charity’s food cupboards stocked through winter, supporting young people out of education, and maintaining the Trust’s Open Living Room - a safe space offering refreshments and support.

Sarah added: "York Travellers Trust is a cause that means a huge amount to me.

"I’ve seen first-hand the difference the organisation makes, whether that is supporting a young person with their education, helping families access practical support or simply making sure there is somewhere welcoming for people to come for a cup of tea and a chat.

"I’d love my 100th marathon to help raise some extra funds so we can continue doing all of those important little things that make such a big difference."
