KING'S Head A have a commanding 11-point lead at the halfway stage of the Moors League after thrashing Buck Inn 9-1.

Chris Freer (133,100 scores) gave the Wrelton side first blood before the King’s Head winning machine kicked into gear with captain Matty Gardner (140,133,100) the driving force again, making it ten victories from 11 matches.

Level second placed teams Royal Oak A and Moorside Bar cancelled each other out in a ding dong 5-5 draw.

Oak led 4-3 after the singles with Kev Fairclough (140,5x100) starring having been drawn to play two legs, both successfully.

Shaun Suffield (100), Alfie Walker (3x100) and Jamie Lythe (132) notched singles wins for the Bar while Kev Gardner (3x100) helped tie the match in the three-a-side.

Sun Inn B sit fourth after a decent 7-3 result against visitors Coach House.

Father and daughter combination, Al and Sarah Hodgson won their own matches and as a pair as Sun cruised into a 7-1 lead with Damon Marley’s reply the only hiccup, before Matt Cook’s smart 58 finish in the second pairs, and a three-a-side win, made the scoreline respectable for Coach.

John Bristow (2x140,100) and Neil Robson (2x100) were on fine form for Sun Inn A as their team beat The Peacock 8-2.

Anna Sellars, Geoff Allen (121) and Mike Brown (133) also recorded individual wins for Sun before they cleaned up in the pairs and threes.

Rob McPherson (2x140,100) continued his impressive performances for Peacock with Josh Waterman claiming their other point.

Louie Jemison (2x140,125,100) had his best game of the season to help King’s Head B to a comfortable 7-3 victory over Sun Inn Pickering.

Sam Dickson (100), Keith Dickson (133,100) and Tom Pickering (125,62 finish) chipped in with useful legs for the Kirkbymoorside team who went on to claim all the pairs and threes.

Phil Pateman (140,117), Chris Nichols and Tim Nichols (3x100) were on target for Sun.

Colin Pepler (140,100, 86 finish) led his New Inn side to a fourth victory of the season at Royal Oak B.

Further wins by Roger Bentley, Mike Lawson, Will Pepler, Jayden Farr and a Bentley/Lawson pairing got New Inn over the line, while Mick Merrygold and Darren Sunley (81 finish) were the pick of the unlucky Gillamoor team.
