A TRIO of North Yorkshire trainers is set to take part in a new racing competition.
The Racing League, kicking off on July 29, will feature 12 teams competing at six consecutive weekly meetings.
Points are awarded for places from first to 10th, with the highest-scoring team over all 36 races winning the league.
More than £2million in prize money has been confirmed for the competition.
Ryedale trainers Tim Easterby, based in Great Habton, and Malton-based Richard Fahey will lead Team 3, while David O’Meara - who operates out of Upper Helmsley - will link up with Team 7.
Set to compete under O’Meara are three familiar faces in Ryedale racing, his stable jockey Danny Tudhope, Cam Hardie and Paul Mulrennan.
Easterby and Fahey will have the benefit of two-time Flat champion jockey Paul Mulrennan in their team.
Other household names involved in the league are Frankie Dettori and current champion jockey Oisin Murphy, as well as trainers John Gosden and Roger Varian.
All teams have three nominated jockeys, who will ride exclusively for their respective teams during Racing League fixtures.
Each jockey will be able to ride in a maximum of 18 of the 36 races in the competition and will vye for a £50k prize pot awarded to the three jockeys who score the most points.
All races are live on Sky Sports.
