THREE Yorkshire players have been named in England’s 24-man training group ahead of their one-day series against Ireland with all-rounder David Willey returning to the fold.

Willey has not played for England’s white-ball sides since May last year when he featured against Pakistan at Emerald Headingley.

However, he was not selected in the squad for that summer’s home ICC World Cup, which England won for the first time in their history, or the touring winter series in South Africa.

The 30-year-old is back in the England set-up, with two fellow White Rose stars – wicketkeeper/batsman Jonny Bairstow and spin bowler Adil Rashid – also selected.

The uncapped top-order batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was named in England’s bumper 55-man ‘back-to-training’ squad back in May, has not been selected.

Test captain and Yorkshire star Joe Root remains with the Test squad, which is remaining separate from the white-ball side at present.

Yorkshire’s high-profile winter recruit Dawid Malan is absent because of an ongoing right calf injury.

The three-match behind closed doors series against Ireland will begin on July 30, with further matches taking place on August 1 and August 4, all of which will be played at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

England national selector Ed Smith said: "Even with several multi-format players unavailable for the Ireland ODIs due to their Test commitments, there is real depth to England's white-ball playing talent.

"Again, everyone at England cricket would like to thank all the county coaches and support staff who have helped these players in the lead up to the behind-closed-doors training camp.

"We now look forward to hosting Ireland and continuing to develop our white ball strength in depth."

Mo Bobat, the ECB performance director, said: "The coaching team has an exciting feel to it with a number of the coaches possessing rich international experience."
