HPH York Vale Cricket League have suspended the start of their 2020 league season in line with Government advice and guidance from the ECB surrounding coronavirus.
As such, the HPH and Scothern Construction Cup competitions will not go ahead this season.
The pre-season meeting of clubs for the collection of cricket balls and payment of league fees has also been suspended.
The League Management Committee have this week notified all clubs of the decision, stating that the safety and well-being of players and officials is the number one priority with the hope of being able to salvage some cricket in the second half of the season.
An invitation T20 competition in August is being planned to offer a possible stop-gap for some knockout cup games.
League chairman Shane Hargrave commented: “Despite the unpredictable nature of this pandemic our hope is we can get back in business with bat and ball in the not-too-distant future.”
