MALTON & Norton RUFC were "proud" to be presented with the East Yorkshire Referees' Society Terry Hardaker Trophy.

The award, presented by referee James Harris, is a significant achievement for the club’s mini and junior section.

Independently assessed throughout the past season by the visiting referees, Malt was acknowledged for being the best junior rugby club in the East Yorkshire RFU region.

Referee Harris said: “This club has achieved high levels of organisation, hospitality, medical facilities, pitch marking, match balls, team discipline, competent officials and generally a great atmosphere."

Malt has been the recipient of this honour several times since the award was inaugurated in 2006.

It is named in memory of the late Terry Hardaker, a well-known English teacher from Pocklington School and committed advocate of RFU junior rugby.

Harris presented the award to young Malton players and Ben Stone, the club's mini and junior chairman.
