MEMBERS at Thornton-le-Dale Bowls Club are enjoying a successful year.
The Ryedale club took the knockout plate for the second year running in the Aussie Pairs bowls competition by defeating Newby at the Ayton ground.
The line-up included David Muncey, Margaret Kirby, Robert Dean, Sandra Brown, Chris Gibbons and Shirley Wakefield.
In the same week, they were runners-up at Mulgrave in the Scarborough Vets Knockout Cup, where two rinks won but two lost and the aggregate counted in favour of the division one Sleights Red Team.
However, Thornton-le-Dale were on top of the season's leaderboard and will go up from division two to division one next year.
In the Ryedale Vets, Thornton-le-Dale, were division three champions and will move up to division two next summer.
Also promoted will be Hutton-le-Hole, the runners-up.
A club spokesman said: "In all, a very successful year for Thornton-le-Dale bowlers."
