PICKERING TOWN have bolstered their squad ahead of the start of the new season this weekend with the re-signing of Hull City goalkeeper Harrison Foulkes on loan.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a successful stint with Pickering during his previous spell on loan at the club last season and returns to the club until January.

Foulkes played just 15 matches for the Pikes by earned the club’s player of the season award as voted for by manager Denny Ingram.

He also earned the award as in the goalkeeper in the Northern Premier League Division One East team of the year.

A statement on the Pickering website read: “Harrison played a vital part in our survival last season, making many fine saves in the games where the points were precious.

“Welcome back Harrison and we all look forward to you playing and keeping those clean sheets.”

They added on social media: “Thanks to all at Hull City academy for making this happen.”

The Eastbourne-born keeper signed to the Hull City academy in 2017 aged 16 by signing scholarships term with the Humberside club.

Since then, Foulkes has gone on to represent the club at an under 18s and under 23s level, thus earning himself a one-year professional deal which he penned in April, with Hull having an option of a further year.

Manager Ingram was unable to call upon Foulkes in the club’s pre-season matches against York City (on July 30) and Scarborough Athletic (on August 6), due to the relevant paperwork not being completed on time.

He did however start in Pickering’s most recent warm-up fixture away to Whitby Town, which ended in a 3-0 defeat.

The match was forced to be played behind closed doors as no safety officers were available.

Pickering kick off their 2019/20 BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One North West campaign with an away trip to Workington this Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The Cumbrian side suffered relegation from the Northern Premier League Premier Division last season, finishing 21st from 22 sides.

Pickering are running a coach to the game for supporters wanting to make the journey. The coach costs £15 and pick ups are at the following times.

Old Malton: 9.45 am, Mill Lane: 10am, Thirsk Industrial Estate: 10.45am.
