Sussex have signed former England Under-19 paceman Jared Warner on a month-long loan deal from Yorkshire.

With Jofra Archer and Chris Jordan away on England duty plus injuries to a few seamers, the 22-year-old Warner - who plays for Methley in the Bradford Premier League - will provide bowling cover for the south coast county.

Sussex coach Jason Gillespie, formerly of Yorkshire, said: "Jazz is an exciting young fast bowler who I've known for a while. He bowls with aggression and real pace and runs in and hits the deck hard.

"Jazz gives us options and is very much in the frame to play next week at Northamptonshire."

Warner added: "I'm looking forward to working with Dizzy again, someone I really enjoyed working with when he was at Yorkshire. Hopefully, I can pick his brain and learn a lot whilst I'm with the squad."

Meanwhile, bustling Yorkshire seamer Josh Shaw has also gone out on a month's loan as he returns to Gloucestershire for a fourth spell.

Shaw said: “The last three times, I’ve really enjoyed myself and they’re a good set of lads.

"It will be a great opportunity to go back there and to try and execute my skills and plans and try and push for a place in the Yorkshire First XI.

“As a club, we’ve got a few fast bowlers doing really well at the moment and therefore it’s hard to get a start when the other lads are bowling really well in the Championship games. "When the other lads are doing really well, you need to go away and perform for the Second XI or on loan. It’s about putting a marker down and proving you can do it if you get chance.

“I need to put quality performances in and hopefully I get a shot at playing first-team cricket for Yorkshire. If a spot does come up, I think I could make a mark, nail down a spot for the future and play consistently.”
