SHERIFF Hutton’s Mick Easterby will host the first fixture of the 2019 Yorkshire Point-to-Point season on Sunday.

The Yorkshire Area Point-to-Point Club will donate a proportion of the day’s profits to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, having raised more than £90,000 over the last ten years.

Alongside a seven-strong race card, hot food will be served throughout the day including a hog roast and a licensed bar will be onsite too.

The action begins at 12pm and 147 entries have been received.

Admission is £10, and the postcode is YO60 7TN.

The Conditions Club race will kick off the action and is split into two divisions.

Ravished, trained by Guy Brewer, looks a good prospect for first division honours, having won some decent handicaps in Ireland and, more recently, been placed over fences for Charlie Longsdon.

In division two, the Will Easterby-trained Black River was formerly useful in France and, latterly with Paul Nicholls, he has put up two solid efforts at Hexham and Alnwick.

The Restricted is the second race on the card, with Robthegetaway massively impressive when winning his maiden and has since won the Aintree point-to-point bumper.

For the Ladies’ Open, Haymount looks the big challenger, having been a top-class recruit for Willie Mullins with his finest hour seeing him stay on third to Tiger Roll in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham.

In the Men’s Open, One Conemara is well-known on the Yorkshire circuit and is accustomed to the track after winning the Grimthorpe Gold Cup at the Middleton meeting.

The Open Maiden includes Major Minus, who has been running well for Will Easterby and, despite showing very little under rules, looks as if a maiden will be in his grasp.

Pete Fahey’s Dipsophobia is a strong candidate for the final race, with connections feeling strongly about the son of Shirocco.
