JOSH Poysden met children and handed out Christmas presents at Leeds General Infirmary this week and admitted: “This is probably the most important part of our job as professional sportsmen.”
The former Warwickshire leg-spinner was joined by Ben Coad, Tim Bresnan and a small group of Yorkshire staff members as they visited the Children’s Congenital Heart Unit, who are supported by the club’s official charity partner, The Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
White Rose players and staff raised approximately £500 to spend on gifts and toys, including a PlayStation, which will stay on site at Leeds General Infirmary.
Poysden, set to embark on his first full season with Yorkshire in 2019, said: “Days like these are massive and put the game into perspective.
“Yes it’s important, but it is just a game. This is so much more than that.
“To put a smile on the kids’ faces and give back to the community is imperative. There’s no doubt it’s a moving experience, but such a rewarding one as well.”
