PICKERING Town's North Riding County FA Senior Cup final against Whitby Town is to be broadcast live on the internet.

The game, which is being staged at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium, takes place on Monday May 15, kick-off 7.30pm.

It will be the first time that a full Pickering Town game has been shown live on TV or the internet and will be available on both the North Riding County FA's Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Middlesbrough-based TV company X-Cel Broadcast will handle the production using three cameras and a commentary team at the stadium.

The broadcast will start at 7.15pm and feature a 15 minute pre-match build up including feature interviews with both clubs.

County Football Development manager Steven Wade said: "We are delighted that our showpiece game of the season is to be made available to more than just those who attend the stadium.

"Fans from across the county, the world in fact, will now be able to tune in and see which of the two teams triumph at the Riverside."

Dave Roberts, X-Cel's Managing Director, said: "This gives the team a real buzz. We have provided broadcasts from the likes of the World Cup, Champions League, and Formula 1 circuits, but to broadcast the Senior Cup in our home town with our home County Football Association is fantastic. We're really looking forward to it."

Around 500 Pickering supporters are expected to make the journey to the Premier League venue where the Northern Counties East League premier division runners-up will be looking to upset the odds against a Whitby side that narrowly missed on play-off qualification in the Evo-Stik League premier division.
