Old Malton St Mary's 5, Heslington 1; Following last week's 4-0 thumping of Thorpe United, Old Malton continued their impressive home record with another resounding win against struggling Heslington.

With the visitors fighting for Premier League survival they made a confident start with two successive corners after seven minutes.

Campbell was alert for the first corner before Scaling came to the rescue to clear the Old Malton lines for the second. Old Malton broke well on 10 minutes when Cass started things off down the left, his ball into Salt carved open the Heslington defence allowing Thackray the half chance to slide the ball past the keeper for the opener. The lead was extended further with another superb break nine minutes later. Hill pounced to rob the ball just inside the Heslington half sending him past two defenders before sliding the ball into the path of Salt, his quality shone as he rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the empty net.

An injury to Thackray saw Boyes introduced after 25 minutes and he almost converted with his first touch, only a last ditch tackle coming to Heslington's rescue. With the 45 minutes up a tremendous break down the left by Shepherd saw him glide past three men before crossing to the far post, where Hill volleyed straight at the keeper from 12 yards.

Heslington started the second half a different team as they had Old Malton on the back foot straight from the kick off. Cooke made a hash of a clearance on 47 minutes and was thankful to his keeper Campbell for a strong save low to his right. The poor start by Old Malton was punished two minutes later when Bulmer got caught on the wrong side of his man, Campbell almost made the save but his strong hand couldn't prevent the ball rolling over the line. The hosts weathered a frantic five minute spell before extending their lead midway through the second half. Hill and Readman created the opening for Salt who hit a superb lob over the keeper for his second. This knocked the stuffing out of Heslington and Old Malton finally took the game by the scruff of the neck to score twice in the 73rd and 74th minutes.

Hill made another telling break down the right when his cross was only half cleared to the edge of the area, McGinty pounced first to drill a sweet left-footed half volley past a helpless keeper. Old Malton saved the best until last when man of the match Hill fired a left-foot pile driver from just outside the area into the bottom corner. Boyes should have grabbed number six when his free header was turned round the post on 77 minutes. And with the last kick of the match he was again guilty of missing another sitter, firing high over the bar from only six yards out.

Selby-based Kartiers make the trip to Old Malton next week and will be hoping, along with the hosts, to hang on to the tails of league leaders Huntington and Dringhouses.
