Ryedale District Council is giving shoppers a festive treat – by making free parking available at council-operated car parks from December 9 through to March 31 2021.
The introduction of the scheme was approved at Full Council last night (Thursday) in a bid to support retail and hospitality businesses and encourage more people to shop locally.
Councillor Keane Duncan, Leader of Ryedale District Council, said: “We are delighted to provide free parking to support local businesses and help increase visits to our market towns – not only in the lead up to Christmas but throughout January, February and March when trade might need an extra boost.
Ryedale residents who currently own a paid-for car parking permit will be able to request a permit extension. Please keep an eye on www.ryedale.gov.uk for further details.
