A COMMUNITY group is expanding its opening hours from October 26.
Pickering Food Share, based at Ings Garth Community Centre, is also opening on Mondays, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. It says the new hours will allow people who cannot visit during the day to collect unsold food items past their sell-by-date, but not past the use-by-date.
βTo date, more than 6,000 people have been receiving food and more than 19 tons of food has been saved from going into land fill,β said Margaret Kirkby, a volunteer at Pickering Food Share.
Pickering Food Share is open Wednesday and Friday, from 10am to 1pm. Everyone is welcome to donate unwanted food or volunteer.
