A FLOODING alert has been issued for the upper River Derwent
The alert means flooding is possible - be prepared
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: " This flood alert has been issued for the Upper River Derwent due to heavy rain associated with Storm Ciara. There will be widespread heavy rain accompanied by high winds throughout Sunday0. River levels are rising at Mowthorpe Weir Head and are expected to be high along most of the River Derwent Catchment during Sunday. Avoid using low lying footpaths near local water courses. We are monitoring the situation closely. The Area Incident Room is open, and operational staff have been out clearing trash screens."
