FIRE crews were unable to save a horse stuck in mud in a field near Bulmer yesterday (Wednesday).
A crew from Malton was called a 9.56am to rescue an elderly horse that was unable to stand up in a muddy field.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "The animal rescue unit along with lifting equipment and strops were used under the supervision of the owner and a vet. Unfortunately, despite our best effort, the horse was unable to be saved and was humanely euthanised by the vet."
