KIRKHAM Henry Performing Arts in Malton has been awarded Makaton Friendly Status.
The award was made by the Makaton charity in recognition of their efforts to ensure that people who use Makaton feel welcome and able to use the centre and attend their classes. Makaton is a language programme that is proven to develop speech, language and communication skill using gestures and pictures.
Nicky Copley, singing teacher and Makaton lead at Kirkham Henry, said: “We are delighted to be awarded Makaton Friendly Status, which reinforces that we welcome and support all members of our community, including those with additional needs.”
