Urban Outfitters has issued a product recall over insect infestation fears.

The indie fashion brand is recalling selected batches of the Pocket Pal Sloth Handwarmer, Sloth Huggable, Pocket Pal Alpaca Handwarmer, Alpaca Huggable and Pocket Pal Hedgehog.

It concerns a batch sent out by a vendor in July 2020.

Urban Outfitters launched the recall after it was told the interior fill of one batch of its huggable/handwarmers may be infested with the weevil beetle.

You will be able to check if your handwarmer is affected by looking for batch number 2020-07 (83792) and the following SKU numbers and descriptions.

There have been reports of three handwarmers containing the weevil beetle with Urban Outfitters describing the recall as "out of an abundance of caution".

How to find the batch number

The batch number can be found on the back of the packaging in the bottom left corner - or the textile sew-in label on the product.

The SKU number can be found on a price label that was attached to the product.

If you have removed the sew in label, and no longer have the packaging, Urban Outfitters will still accept a return of the affected item.

What to do if your handwarmer is part of the product recall

Urban Outfitters asks customers to place the item in a plastic bag which is then taped closed.

It should be kept in a clean dry place away from food.

Customers should then return the affected product to Urban Outfitters for a full refund.

It can also be returned in store or shipped to Urban Outfitters using a prepaid shipping label provided by Urban Outfitters.
