I HAVE recently been a patient in York Hospital spending most of a week on Ward 32 room 5.

I would like to put it on record that the level of care I witnessed on that ward was quite inspiring.

A consistent standard is maintained, whether it be for the personal hygiene care for the bed-ridden, where their privacy is assiduously preserved, or for the feeding of patients who cannot manage for themselves.

All this done with professionalism along with good humour and a truly genuine caring and patient approach. And I am not just talking about some or most of the staff but everyone from nursing assistants to sisters.

I can’t speak for the way the rest of the hospital is run but if those involved were to have concerns for the performance of any of the other wards I would recommend that they take Ward 32 as their ‘Gold Standard’.
