Pensioner hits out at debate over state pension triple lock

ALL I heard on Newsnight tonight (September 15) was how to deal with the future of the state pension and the triple lock which has helped to give pensioners a more realistic pension.

Massive figures were shown of how much the state pension’s triple lock is costing the country.

We paid for that pension through NI payments!

Not one word was said about how much is paid in benefits to people, some who have never worked and some who have no intention of working because they get more money not working!

All the talkers were interested in was the huge state pension costs.

Thanks guys! I worked for 50 years to be told my government pension was the reason the country was going bankrupt.

War stories revealed in new walk at York Cemetery

BRITAIN was involved in many military conflicts around the world throughout the 19th century.

This new walk at York Cemetery, led by volunteer genealogist Dennis Shaw, will visit the graves of men from all ranks who served in some of these conflicts and hear the stories of their experiences.

Meet at the Harriet Centre at 1.45pm on Sunday, October 4 to discover the stories of some of these brave men who survived the battles and are now laid to rest in York Cemetery.

The walk is free, although contributions are very welcome towards the work of the Friends of York Cemetery.

The Harriet Centre is at York Cemetery, Cemetery Road, York, YO23 1NZ.
