ABOUT 26,000 people flocked to the Pickering Traction Engine Rally as it celebrated its diamond anniversary.
Organisers said highlights of the four-day rally at the Pickering Showground, which finished yesterday, included a display of showmen’s locomotives from as far away as Aberdeen.
There were also scores of miniature steam engines and veteran vintage and classic cars, and people watched threshing and sawing displays.
Steam engines, tractors and classic and veteran vehicles went on a road run into Pickering on Saturday, while thousands gathered on Saturday night for a 15-minute fireworks display.
