THE 15 members of Ryedale District Council’s planning committee will meet at 6pm in the Milton Rooms in Malton to determine three items on the agenda: Malton livestock market, Wentworth Street car park and the upper level of the car park.
Chairman of the committee, Coun John Raper, will introduce officers to fellow members and the public, including a mini-biography to highlight their experience in retail planning applications.
There will then follow a presentation from the case officer on the application for the livestock market.
Questions from planning committee members will be addressed to the East Riding Council officers involved, and Ryedale District Council forward planning officers, along with retail planning consultant Bernard Greep and James Kennedy from North Yorkshire County Council highways department Public speakers may speak for three minutes in categories of district councillor who is not on the planning committee, town council, one supporter and one objector, followed by the applicant or agent.
The planning committee members will then debate the application with local members usually speaking first.
The application from Holbeck Holdings for Wentworth Street car park will then follow in the same format and finally the upper deck of the car park.
Plans for the livestock market are recommended for refusal but the committee can over turn that recommendation and vote in favour.
If they do decide to refuse it the application can be taken to appeal and in this case would involve a public inquiry.
The Wentworth Street car park application is recommended for approval, providing the Secretary of State has no concerns and subject to a number of conditions.
