BARITONE Barry Clark and mezzo-soprano Janet Cowley, who have sung with Carl Rosa Opera, D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, Scottish Opera, and the New Sadlers Wells Opera, are to perform a special concert in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice and Salton Church.

The concert, The Best of British – Songs and Snatches, will feature music by Novello, Coward and Sullivan as well as songs to celebrate Remembrance Weekend.

Event organisers Jill Hopkins and Richard Scott said it was a privilege to have such quality performers giving a concert free of charge for the two charities.

“It should be a wonderful evening,” said Richard.

Janet became a supporter of hospices after her partner died in Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield, and enlisted the help of fellow singer Barry Clark, from Brighton, when she heard that St Catherine’s Hospice committee in Malton were trying to organise an autumn concert.

The concert will take place at Salton church on Saturday, November 12 at 7.30pm.
