TWO people were taken to hospital after a crash on the North York Moors on Saturday. The collision, involving a Volkswagen Beetle and a Skoda Octavia, happened at about 3.50pm on the A171, at Roxby, near Whitby.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service crew used cutting gear to free some of the occupants of the vehicles.

Three people travelling in the Skoda were uninjured, but a woman and child travelling in the Beetle were left trapped in the car and taken to hospital, although their injuries were not serious.
