COUNCIL officers have gone to the High Court in their bid to force a Ryedale couple to leave their home in Lowfield Lane, Nawton, near Helmsley.
Last September, a Government planning inspector gave Douglas Sleightholme and his wife permission to live full-time in a converted barn on the Cherry Tree Park caravan site which they own.
But Ryedale District Council appealed the decision before High Court judge Mr Justice Stadlen in London, claiming it breached planning policy about permanent residency at the site.
The council wants him to order Local Government Secretary John Denham to have the planning case reconsidered. The judge reserved judgment.
