A 17-year-old boy arrested in connection with a crash in North Yorkshire that saw a teenager killed and two people injured has been released from custody.
North Yorkshire Police said the boy arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released while its investigation into the crash on the A163 at Barlby, near Selby, on Monday evening (September 28) continues.
The force said the crash involved a Range Rover and a Massey Ferguson tractor and happened at 7.30pm near the junction with Whitemoor Lane.
A 19-year-old man travelling in the blue Range Rover died and another 19-year-old man also in the car was taken to hospital with injuries after the collision, North Yorkshire Police said.
The driver of the Massey Ferguson tractor was taken to hospital with injuries and is helping police with the investigation, the force added.
Detectives are continuing to urge anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
A police spokesperson said both vehicles are believed to have been travelling eastbound when the Range Rover collided with the rear of the trailer.
They said on Tuesday morning: “Sadly, a 19-year-old man who was travelling in the Range Rover was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“A second 19-year-old man who was also travelling in the Range Rover remains in hospital.”
The A163 was closed for most of the night as officers conducted investigation work at the scene.
