A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after falling on rocks at a Yorkshire coastal beauty spot.

Bridlington Coastguard was called to Thornwick Bay, north of Flamborough yesterday morning (Saturday, September 25), after the woman suffered a knee injury in the fall.

The rescue team carried the injured woman from the rocks, up steps and along the coastal path to waiting ambulance crews.

A spokesperson for Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team said: "We’re pleased to know the casualty was able to leave the scene and continue to hospital for further treatment, and everyone at Bridlington Coastguard would like to wish her a very speedy recovery.

"If you see a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
