GHOSTLY sightings and spooky encounters are taking over York this autumn, adding an extra chill to the city’s already haunted reputation.
Visitors can immerse themselves in eerie attractions across the city, including The York Dungeon’s latest experience featuring the infamous prophetess Mother Shipton.
Barley Hall is inviting trainee ghost hunters to help track down long-lingering spirits from more than 2,000 years of York’s history.
Haunted happenings aren’t limited to after dark.
At the National Railway Museum, visitors can search for tiny, hand-crafted ghosts hidden throughout Station Hall, created in collaboration with York Ghost Merchants.
Things get even more atmospheric after sunset, with a variety of ghost walks available for those brave enough to explore the city's haunted streets.
A spokesperson said: "York is haunted. Consider this your warning."
For those in need of recovery after a night of frights, the city offers cosy pubs, street food at Shambles Food Court, and shopping at independent stores and Shambles Market.
The Shambles Market Ghost Trail runs from October 24 to November 1 and offers a chance to meet some friendly figures along the way.
Visitors are encouraged to use York Park & Ride for convenient access to the city.
