A man who strangled and suffocated a woman is beginning a 15-month prison sentence.
Richard Scott Mortimer, now 50, of Four Seasons, Bradshaw Lane, Halifax, but originally from Bradford, appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court in July this year.
He pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation and two counts of intentional suffocation involving the same victim.

The offences took place in 2024 and 2025.
The case was sent to York Crown Court for sentencing.
On September 1, Mortimer received 15 months’ immediate custody and a five-year restraining order banning him from any contact with the woman involved.
