THIEVES have targeted "a number of properties" in two streets on the edge of a North Yorkshire village.

The county's police force said the burglaries and suspicious activities took place in Hensall overnight between Monday and Tuesday (September 7 and 8), around Wand Lane and Dene Close.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Sheds and garages were also targeted, with items including electric bikes, tools and fishing equipment stolen.

"There was also an incident involving someone entering a garden and trying a vehicle. In a separate incident, someone entered a garden and tried a vehicle.

"CCTV enquiries indicate that three males may have been involved, and we believe the offenders were active in the area particularly between around 11pm and 1am."

Officers are asking anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in Hensall during this time to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone who saw an unfamiliar or suspicious vehicle arriving, leaving or parked in the area.

Police are seeking CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage covering the area between 11pm and 1am, as well as any other information that could help identify those responsible.
