A new Mazda dealership has opened its doors on the edge of York.
SG Petch Mazda York, located at Monks Cross, becomes the automotive retailer’s fourth Mazda site, joining its existing dealerships in Darlington, Durham and Middlesborough.
The new branch aims to strengthen Mazda’s presence across North Yorkshire and improve customer access to the brand’s latest models and services.
It follows the closure of Vertu Mazda closing its garage in Layerthorpe ay the end of July, saying the state of the economy had forced them to make tough decisions.

Steve Petch, managing director of SG Petch, said: "I’m pleased we can now offer Mazda to our customers in York.
"We already represent the brand in Darlington, Durham and Middlesbrough and remain one of the oldest Mazda dealerships in the UK.
"The new Mazda facility has a great location and customers for Mazda in the area can expect an exceptional experience across sales, service and parts."
The 49,000 sq ft facility will provide sales, servicing and parts support for Mazda owners in York and the wider region.
It will also showcase Mazda’s growing line-up of new vehicles during an important year for the manufacturer, as three all-new models are set to join the range.
The all-new Mazda CX-5 and Mazda6e are already available in showrooms, while the Mazda CX-6e is expected to arrive later this year.
The dealership will also offer a large selection of used vehicles and enhanced aftersales support for customers.

SG Petch is a family-run business established in 1977 and is known for its focus on customer service and long-standing relationship with the Mazda brand.
The new York site becomes one of seven Mazda dealerships across Yorkshire and is expected to help meet growing demand in the area.
