A car has burst into flames on a major road in York.
Firefighters were called to the scene on the A64 between Murton and the Hopgrove roundabout shortly after 6pm on Thursday (August 13).
Witnesses said traffic had stopped in both directions after the fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said its crews from Acomb and Tadcaster attended the scene and found the vehicle “well alight”.
The fire service said its crews extinguished the blaze using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.
In a statement, the fire service said: “Acomb and Tadcaster crews responded to a vehicle fire. On arrival crews found one vehicle well alight.
“Crews extinguished using breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.”
