A major cycling event is set to return to North Yorkshire this summer.
The North Yorkshire Grand Prix will take place at Ampleforth Abbey on Sunday, August 16, and is organised by British Cycling.
This year’s event will feature two circuits spanning the Abbey grounds and the Howardian Hills.
Edward Perry, CEO of Ampleforth Abbey, said: "We are delighted to see the North Yorkshire Grand Prix returning to the grounds of Ampleforth Abbey this year, an excellent opportunity to celebrate the joy of cycling and to showcase the stunning North Yorkshire countryside surrounding Ampleforth Abbey."
Spectators are invited to enjoy the action on a big screen, with food and drink available throughout the day, alongside lawn games for all ages.
Award-winning artist Garth Bayley will also be in attendance, capturing the atmosphere of the race on canvas.
The women’s race will start at 9am, followed by the men’s race at 2pm.
Entry is free, and the visitor centre and tea room will be open from 9am to 5pm.
Rolling road closures will be in place throughout the day to allow the cyclists to pass safely.
Parking marshals will be on hand to direct visitors, and more information is available at www.ampleforthabbey.org.uk.
