A SHED in a York allotment has caught fire, along with a nearby compost heap.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews from Thirsk, Harrogate and Malton were called to Fulford Cross allotments in Fulford around 5.35pm yesterday (Thursday, July 30).

The crews tackled a fire to a compost heap which measured 15 square metres.

A nearby shed has also caught fire.

The service said both fires were extinguished.
