Malton Rackets Club (MRC) continues its strong start to the 2026 season.
In the Hovingham Mixed League, Malton A is currently second in Division 1, having suffered its first defeat of the season to Raskelf A, 46-35 in games.
The team, however, bounced back with a 51-30 victory against Kirkbymoorside A.
James Ashcroft, a new club member, is already making a significant impact in both mixed and men’s teams.
The B team, captained by Sam Alasfar, remains unbeaten and is at the top of Division 2.
Their latest match saw a close 44-37 win against Raskelf B.
Both the C and D teams are fourth in their respective divisions.
The C team lost to Wigginton A by 49-32, but the D team secured a 46-35 win against Pickering B.
The Malt team in Division 1 of the Driffield Ladies League is having a mixed season.
Their last match ended with a level game score of 55 each, but they lost 5-4 in sets.
In the Hovingham Ladies’ League, MRC Tennis has two teams.
The A team, led by Miranda Vasey, has won two of its four matches, while the B team continues to struggle but maintains strong team spirit.
The MRC Men’s A team, competing in Division 3 of the Driffield League, has recorded six wins and one loss, continuing a strong start to the season.
The player of the month is Archie, who has progressed through the junior coaching at MRC.
The B team, in Division 6, has two wins and three losses this season.
The club, located on Old Maltongate, welcomes new members and offers both junior and adult coaching sessions.
Club coach Mark Franklin will run the traditional summer camps for juniors again this year, and there are several social sessions during the week.
