East Coast Mainline delays person hit by train in Stevenage

A PERSON has been hit by a train south of York.

There are major delays on the East Coast Mainline affecting travel from York after a person was hit by a train near Stevenage.

The incident was reported at 10.22am today (June 10) with lines between Stevenage and Peterborough, including the East Coast Mainline, currently closed.

 “Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised,” said a spokesperson for National Rail.

They added that buses have requested been requested from suppliers, but there hasn't been a confirmation of these yet.

Major disruption is expected until 2pm and ticket acceptance is in place.
