A 'RAVE' to help people boost their mental health and get their day off to a positive start is taking place in a North Yorkshire town.

The Wellbeing Coffee Rave morning will take place at the Hungate Centre in Pickering on June 11.

Organised by Diane Potter, the event's aim is to give people a morning boost.

Diane said: "I have suffered with mental health issues for many years and still do including PTSD due to various trauma in my life. I love music, always singing - not in tune - and dancing.

"I work at MInd Charity shop and noticed if you have good music on the customers enjoy it and sing along. I had a lady comment ' thank you for playing good music, it's cheered me up, I wasn't feeling good today.

Diane said she had seen a post on social media about morning raves and thought it was a great idea.

"I just thought, that would be fantastic, get up on a morning, have a dance, a chat, drink (no alcohol) to good music then get to work or whatever you have planned for that day and hopefully make someone’s day.

"It would also enable people to feel good about themselves, get motivated ad socialise with others."

Diane said people were invited to wear casual clothing so they could walk or jog there.

"I just thought I'd give it a go and hopefully make a difference."

The Wellbeing Coffee Rave morning will take place at the Hungate Centre in Pickering on June 11 from 6.45 to 7.30am with music from DJ Oz Ward.

Entry is £10 on the door with tea or coffee on arrival.
