A new art exhibition showcasing 21 large-scale contemporary portraits is set to open at an East Yorkshire chapel.

David Nevard's collection, Drawn to Imperfection, is designed to offer viewers a unique glimpse into the lives of biblical figures.

The exhibition will be displayed at the Methodist Chapel in Main Street, Cranswick, starting on Wednesday, May 27.

Each portrait aims to depict the humanity and vulnerability of its subject, inviting audiences to engage with the stories of the Bible in a new way.

Nevard, an artist with a background in fine art, has spent 15 years focusing particularly on portraiture.

His latest works, inspired by a desire to capture vulnerability, hope to spark the imagination of viewers and present God as reaching out in love.

The public is invited to view the pieces from 2pm to 4pm on the opening day, and from 10am to 4pm on the following Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Refreshments will be available during the exhibition.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet Nevard on Sunday, May 31, when he joins the morning service at 10.30am.

The artist hopes his work will inspire people to better understand God and embrace their imperfections as part of a larger, redemptive story.
